3D Scanning & Modeling

Peter uses a ground-based 360° camera with LiDAR to capture the full interior and exterior of any project. The deliverable can be a virtual tour for marketing. It can also be a detailed 3D model in Revit or AutoCAD format.

The complete 3D models show the exact measurements of the structure. An architect can use the 3D model to begin designing a remodel. Another use is a Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) model during construction and a final As-Built documentation upon transfer to the owner.

What You Get From Drone 3D Scanning Services

As-Built Documentation – 3D models of existing conditions before, during, or after construction. Useful for renovations, additions, and anything that requires knowing exactly what is there.
Virtual Tours – Promote your business, event space or progress on a construction site by giving tours of the related area.
MEP Scans – Document all Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing installed in the building before drywall and ceiling systems get installed. This way, you can find everything during construction.
Final As-Built Documentation – When transferring the project to the owner you can tag every utility or system. Each tag has a detailed picture of the item, which can show model and serial numbers. This is useful later if you need details without going on site.
Full 3D Models – If you don’t have drawings of an existing structure, or they are out of date, Peter can scan the entire structure’s interior and exterior to convert it into a Revit or AutoCAD 3D Model.

LiDAR stands for Light Detection and Ranging. It uses laser pulses to measure distances. This technology creates precise 3D models of real-world spaces. This data, combined with 360° imagery, creates immersive virtual tours. Users can navigate a building or job site remotely. LiDAR-based virtual tours in construction help track progress and verify existing conditions. They also document MEP systems before closing the walls. Plus, they create a lasting digital record of a site.

Virtual Tours can be viewed online or shared offline. All CAD drawings are in PDF, DXF, or DWG format. The 3D models are in AutoCAD or Revit format. Let Peter know if your team uses a specific format or platform. He will confirm if it’s compatible.

The LiDAR data created has an error of 1 inch over 100 feet. As such, the data collected is a very close representation of the space. When using the 3D models for design, always verify the measurements. As they say, measure twice and cut once.

Large spaces or buildings can be scanned and turned into a virtual tour or a model. This technology can scan any size of structure; it just takes longer.
